CUP AND SAUCER - DU PAOUIRE
This cup and saucer was purchased in Vienna in 1957. The dealer was Melanie Penizek, who had the reputation of being tops. She, like most shops, had very little to offer. While we were there a dealer, who is now in Tel Aviv but was formerly in Berlin, examined this cup and saucer and says it was undoubtedly decorated by Bottengruber. The design is almost identical with the Front Piece used by Hayward in his book. He there describes the decor as "In the manner of famille verte porcelain." The old gentleman described himself as a connoisseur of art of all types having 60 years’ experience.
